Jonny Tobin Releases Funky Smooth Instrumental Album "Together"

After releasing the full-length “Weekends” in 2020 (released via Wicked Wax in Amsterdam), a string of singles, collaborative projects, and EPs in 2021, Jonny Tobin releases another full-length solo album “Together” to kick off 2022. Facing isolation and loneliness (as many people in the world did throughout 2020), the album is a collection of tracks that Jonny made to channel negative feelings into something hopeful and forward-looking.

While the album was created without any other collaborators, many of the tracks on the album relate back to an experience that personally inspired Jonny, or to a connection with someone else. “Take Your Time” was an evolution of a Masego remix contest submission from the summer of 2020 (while Jonny didn’t win the contest, he received a memorable shoutout from Masego on Instagram). On “What I Didn’t Do”, Jonny features a clip from friend and fellow musician William Chernoff speaking about unrealized potential and some of the negative self-talk that can hold people back. “Vivid Dreams” also features vocals by way of a chopped lead vocal from the Jonny Tobin-produced track “Mars” by Janette King. Closing off the album is the introspective track “Leonidus”, which was born out of a beat Jonny created for Loop Sessions, a monthly beatmakers hang. The track expanded into a tribute to Jonny’s friend Leonidus Edwards who passed away suddenly in 2021.

“Together” represents Jonny’s response to all the tragedy, despair, and grief of the past 2 years - holding space for those emotions but also seeking to provide glimmers of optimism with an almost playful delight, as the compositions encapsulate his bright outlook on the world.

Arrested Development Deliver "For The Fkn Love" Album + 3 videos

Music lovers along with Hip Hop purists know there isn’t a sound, a style, or marque that can match the caliber of the iconic, legendary Hip Hop group Arrested Development; past, present or future. With that being said, it only makes sense that devoted fans across the globe are in a frenzied state of euphoria listening to the group's new album ‘For The FKN Love.’ This is the first album they've collaborated with equally scaled artists making the project that much more fulfilling. Guest appearances include Big Daddy Kane, Masta Ace, Monie Love, Fatman Scoop, Freddie Foxxx, The Sugar Hill Gang, KXNG Crooked, G. Love, Tony Momrelle, and that’s only naming a few!

The album even features Weekly Rap God’s very own Tap Da Mic cohost Twan Mack and other vetted artists such as Dell-P, Lish, Ke’andra, 4ize, Twisted Royalty, Cleveland P. Jones, MRK SX & Janah. The 17-track album is executively produced by front-man Speech and British boom-bap wiz Configa.

Some might concur Speech is in rare form throughout the album as he conjures up the early years of Arrested Development, the horrific tragedy of Breonna Taylor, Covid-19 global pandemic, an exposed and controversial VLAD interview, as well as airing out some harsh truths regarding the ’90s. However, said content is delivered in bona fide AD fashion; soul-gripping and thought-provoking yet spiritually invigorating enough to move the body. ‘For The FKN Love‘ is a nostalgic adrenaline rush that’s mind-stimulating and refreshing to the ears.

Click here to stream the album and watch three video releases below.

Watch the virtual Album Release Listening Session hosted by June Archer (thisis50) with DJ K-OTIC on the wheel along with special guests Fatman Scoop, Masta Ace, Configa, Dell-P, Twan Mack, and more!

Glasses Malone Addresses Toxic Femininity on "Kayne Should’ve Never Married (That B----)"

Watts rapper Glasses Malone recruits Los Angeles sibling duo L.A. Giantz and iconic West Coast rapper Suga Free for an unapologetic Gangster Rap track “Kanye Should’ve Never Married (That B*tch)” via his own independent label Division Movie Company. Over the hard-hitting West Coast production by Ervin “EP” Pope, the four rappers lay into the trappings of toxic female sexuality.

“It’s time to confront the toxic femininity sweeping through Hip-Hop. Women have been poisoned by false idols who themselves have been stricken by tons of insecurities. Enough is enough. Someone has to stand up against it! Why not us? We had to do it, cuh. It had to be the Loc,” explains Glasses.

On Saturday, April 30 fans can watch Glasses Malone perform live at 93.5 KDAY Krush Groove event happening at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, CA. Tickets available HERE.

24Kay’s Hot New Project “No Cursin”

“No Cursin” is the well known hot new project created by 24Kay and Zel. Song “Luh Momma” from this project has been seen and heard on Satellite Radio/ TV and also on platforms: Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV and ROKU. This is 24Kay’s first project EVER with no profanity on any of the songs. Believe it or not this is a master piece waiting to be heard from the greatest. He linked up with one of South Carolina’s Upcoming Producers Zel & they’ve been heating up the streets since! Being an indie artist and having to come out of pocket for everything you do is no easy process. Having to deal with obstacles with no love from the hometown and even no support from family and the close ones. Still these two remain to keep it together and stay humble to become who they are today. It’s also talk and rumors saying that they have more in the works! Keep a ear and eye out for these two and don’t miss out on upcoming events from them!
